Fully Distributed Water Balance Modelling in Large Agricultural Areas—The Pinios River Basin (Greece) Case Study

چکیده
Robust assessments of variations in freshwater availability are essential for current and future water resource management the Pinios River Basin (PRB), which is one most productive basins Greece terms agriculture. To support sustainable resources PRB, we set up calibrated mGROWA hydrological model at a high spatial (100 m) temporal (daily) resolution period 1971–2000, with particular attention given to deriving crop-specific irrigation requirements. We developed implemented comprehensive methodological framework overcome data scarcity constraints thus enabling derivation high-resolution spatially continuous estimates many input variables required model. generated spatiotemporal balance components actual evapotranspiration, requirements, total runoff, groundwater recharge PRB. In addition, through calculation indices, such as potential ratio (PIQR), demonstrate way identify unsustainable use irrigated The established can be used both reference providing decision management, focusing on use, basis climate impact studies

متن کاملDistributed hydrological modelling of a heavily glaciated Alpine river basin
A glacier submodel was successfully integrated into the distributed hydrological model WaSiM-ETH to simulate the discharge of a heavily glaciated drainage basin. The glacier submodel comprises a distributed temperature index model including solar radiation to simulate the melt rate of glaciated areas. Meltwater and rainfall are transformed into glacier discharge by using a linear reservoir appr...
متن کاملAssessing Virtual Water Trade Balance of Agricultural Products (A Case Study of Mazandaran province)
According to World Bank Report (2021), the agricultural sector consumes 70 percent of global freshwater. Therefore, managing and exploiting water resources optimally as well as future planning in this sector is necessary. Limited access to water endowments, unequal distribution of water resources, climate changes and increasing global water demand have increased the importance of the issue. Awa...

Application of Hydrological Balance Approach in the Study of Surface Water-Groundwater Exchange (Case Study: Zayandehrood River)
Introduction: Studying the changes in surface water storage and exchanges with groundwater in the hydrological system of rivers is a prerequisite for water resources management in the basin. In this paper, Zayandehrood River has been studied and the historical series of flow has been used in six hydrographic stations located downstream the Zayandehrood Dam. Materials and Methods: Based on the ...
